Always on the Cutting Edge of Technology

ICS is proud to offer the latest in Communications, Internet and RF Technology.

Infrastructure
A major accomplishment for ICS is the implementation of high speed redundant MPLS WAN infrastructure between all major facilities. Our customers depend on the ICS extranet and ICS responds to that challenge to ensure our systems are up and ready for use with over 99% uptime. The application, communication and hardware is monitored 24 hours per day, 7 days a week with automatic failure systems in the event of a T1 failure. All ICS servers are equipped with RAID 5 failover systems which ensure the systems will be available at all times. ICS uses dedicated T1 access to the internet to ensure that customer access is maintained at a high level of availability. Our E-Commerce capabilities require the use of the latest technologies with fully redundant backup and we live up to that commitment. Redundant Cisco Security Appliances provide internet security for the ICS network, while Cisco Catalyst switches provide 100 gigabit access to desktops. A fiber backbone provides a smooth transport for data traffic helping to provide error free data transactions. Back up generators ensure that our data center maintains a high level of customer availability and Vehicle Mounted Terminals provide a significant level of efficiency and ease of use, all contributing to the ongoing satisfaction of our customers.

RF
ICS Logistics has been utilizing RF for 15 years and understands the requirements of RF in a warehousing and distribution environment. Proper use of this technology allows ICS to ensure the warehouse personnel are highly productive as well as accurate. The scanning in conjunction with EDI allows ICS to report to the customers needed detail for shipping and recall purposes. ICS is committed to updating the RF equipment as part of the drive to provide the proper tools for both our customers and employees. The RF process starts from the time product is received into one of our facilities and is used throughout the storage, picking and shipping life cycle.

Servers/WMS
The heart of the ICS Logistics technology infrastructure is in the data center. Here, ICS utilizes an IBM I-Series for the massive Warehouse Management System (WMS). This program enables the capturing of data needed for instant recall, reporting and customer access to real time data on their products. The WMS is constantly updated to reflect the needs and suggestions of our customers as well as industry best practices. All ancillary and support applications are run on the Windows server platform which utilizes the latest in virtualization technology. Virtualization, alongside a strict backup and recovery policy, ensure data availability and safety.

VPN
ICS began the deployment of VPN technology, the purpose being to allow our customers the access to ICS servers through the Internet.

ICS made the substantial investment in VPN technology to allow access to customer data throughout the supply chain. This technology will allow ICS to quickly bring new customers and facilities on-line with minimal infrastructure changes. The addition of the VPN technology will allow ICS to be a seamless partner tracking inventory, orders and truck/container location by customer. Partners in the ICS VPN network will be able to follow information from anywhere in the world and will be able to participate in the technology acquired by ICS, to provide seamless data transfer via Internet.

Refrigeration
ICS uses the latest in refrigeration control and monitoring systems, ensuring complete confidence that the systems are operating at optimal level. The latest refrigeration software allows ICS to maintain stringent control over kilowatt hour usage and demands, resulting in the most efficient use of electrical power

Document Imaging
In 2003, ICS installed the Filelogix document imaging system. The purpose is to provide scanned images of relevant documents to customers and associates. This system runs on the ICS Network, which includes web interfaces. The invoice approval process in place at ICS also relies on the workflow processes of the document imaging system.

Citrix
In May 2004, ICS deployed a Citrix system to reduce hardware requirements, increase transaction speed and allow for consistency in deployment. Citrix is also used for deployment of applications for associates who are working off site.

TMS
In October 2008, ICS installed the Windows driven Prophesy transportation system. This system handles the TL, LTL and Intermodal needs of ICS. All transactions can also be fed to the ICS EDI system. The transportation system directly feeds the JDE One World accounting applications.

Star Trak

ICS installed the Star Trak monitoring devices on the refrigerated trailers in the ICS fleet.  The satellite based units not only provide GPS tracking, but also monitor and report on temperatures of the refrigerated trailers.  The system provides automated status updates concerning temperature issues as well as a rolling ETA to dispatch personnel.  The Star Trak reporting structure is integrated into the ICS TMS.

HRIS
In January 2005, ICS installed the Human Resources Information System from Spectrum. This software not only automates the hiring and record keeping applications, but allows a variety of self service functions which associates can access via the ICS intranet. The web functionality allows potential associates to proceed through the application process on line by utilizing a link in the ICS website. The automatic email routing functions are used to automate the associate review process, helping to make that process a paperless one.

Cognos
In order to provide automated KPIs and customized reports, ICS installed the Cognos Business Intelligence system. Customers can utilize this data through automated processes, or through the use of a Cognos login. The Cognos Business Intelligence system provides dashboarding technology which allows for instant snapshots of current operating conditions.
